RIP George Carlin

George Carlin (71) Leaves the Stage

George Carlin was my favorite comedian. He pulled no punches in taking on the power elite in the United States. He questioned god, religion and politicians with disarming humor.

His comedic sensibility revolved around a central theme: humanity is a cursed, doomed species.

"I don't have any beliefs or allegiances. I don't believe in this country, I don't believe in religion, or a god, and I don't believe in all these man-made institutional ideas," he told Reuters in a 2001 interview.

Carlin was scheduled to receive the John F. Kennedy Center's prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in November

Carlin says, "The game is rigged....and nobody seems to notice."

Is that the case? Or is it that deep down we know that it is rigged, but we just don't want to know it is rigged. When things like Watergate happen and other scandals begin to expose that the game is rigged we are infuriated. Why? We are not angry that the game is rigged but that those who rigged the game didn't do a better job hiding the fact that the game is rigged.

Deep down we all just want to play the game.....even if it is rigged.
