African-American Michael Steele Elected Chair of RNC
Compared to the other neanderthal's in the GOP contest, Steele, former Maryland Ltd. Governor, seems like a "moderate," but how moderate is he? He compares medical stem cell research to Nazi experiments and joined in right-wing anti-gay rallies to oppose gay marriage, and he champions conservative "values." That was enough for Steele to win the support of the Log Cabin Republicans, and any hint of support from the LCR is usually the end of any Republican being elected to a leadership position in the anti-gay party.
Once again, perceived ties to the Log Cabin Republicans was used against Steele.
LCR Crapped on Again by RNC
While the LCR seem pleased with Steele and claim he is the right person to lead the GOP in a "new direction," Stonewall Democrats Question the Record of the new RNC Chair
The real problem for Michael Steele may be the racist base of the Republican Party the GOP has relied upon to win elections in The South: Racists Aren't Happy
