Congress Drops Hate Crime Bill
Once again, LGBT civil rights are getting screwed in the political machine. Bascially, Democratic leaders thought that the best chance of passing the Hate Crime bill was to attach it to a defense authorization bill that Republicans would support and Bush would not want to veto. However, many liberal Democrats do not want to vote to authorize more funds for the Iraq occupation and don’t want to vote for it, and added with the anti-gay conservatives who won’t vote for it, Democrats have been forced to take the Hate Crime bill out of the defense authorization.
