Food Stamp Use Nears Record

Food Stamp Use Nears Record

Driven by a painful mix of layoffs and rising food and fuel prices, the number of Americans receiving food stamps is projected to reach 28 million in the coming year, the highest level since the aid program began in the 1960s.

Media, Military Kept Soldier in Closet After Death

Media, Military Kept Solider in Closet After Death

WASHINGTON BLADE
The death of a gay soldier in Iraq is drawing renewed attention to how the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy — and the mainstream media — help ensure that gays stay in the closet, even in death.

Maj. Alan Rogers, 40, a gay intelligence officer who served on a military transition team that trained Iraqi soldiers, died Jan. 27 in Baghdad from wounds caused by an improvised explosive device that detonated near him while he was conducting a patrol on his Humvee. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery on March 14.

For sacrificing his life in the line of duty, the Army posthumously awarded Rogers a Purple Heart and a second Bronze Star.

Rogers, a D.C. resident since about 2004, entered the Army in 1990 and served in the first Persian Gulf War and was on a second tour of duty in Iraq when he died.

Mainstream media coverage of Rogers’ death coincided with the grim milestone of 4,000 U.S. service members killed in Iraq and the five-year anniversary of the invasion. But the media reports about Rogers’ death omitted any mention of his sexual orientation. The Washington Post, National Public Radio and the Gainesville Sun, the local newspaper in his hometown of Hampton, Fla., made no mention of his sexual orientation or his involvement with a group that works to overturn “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

Obama UP, Hillary down

Obama Draws 20,000 at Penn State Rally Unbelievable...over 20,000 people stood in 40 degree weather to see and hear Barack Obama at a rally at Penn State. That's in Pennsylvania, which is supposed to be "Hillary Country"!

Obama was also endorsed by PA Sen. Bob Casey

Obama has also extended his lead over Clinton to 10 percent in the latest Gallup Poll (52% to 42%)
Looks like the attempt by Hillary, her campaign, and the Guerilla Womyn to swiftboat Barack Obama and appeal to white racism have backfired, as well as Hillary LYING about her trip to Bosnia, NAFTA, etc.....

More bad news for Hillary Clinton, the Clinton campaign is short on money and cannot pay its bills!

Despite growing calls for her to drop out of the race, Clinton says she is going to fight all the way to the Democratic convention.

I'm sure John McCain is happy to hear that from the Democratic candidate who says he is more qualified to be President than her Democratic opponent!

Hillary's cheerleaders claim Obama wants to stop people from voting, but Obama says she can campaign as long as she wants (he'll still win!)

Congratulations to Marisa and the Tennessee Democratic Party!

New Polls: "Obama Weathers Storm, Clinton Faces Credibility Problem"

Pew Poll Show Obama Weathers Wright Storm, Clinton Faces Credibility Problems

A second national poll released today finds that Democrat Barack Obama has survived the furor over his former pastor's incendiary remarks, in no small part because of the speech he gave in response.

Echoing similar results from a new NBC-Wall Street Journal poll. The latest, from the Pew Research Center, is headlined "Obama Weathers the Wright Storm, Clinton Faces Credibility Problem." The bottom line for the Democratic nomination race: Obama 49%-Clinton 39%, almost identical to a month ago.

In other poll news, Obama has a 4-percentage-point edge over Clinton today in the national Gallup tracking poll, 48%-44%. That's up from 1 point yesterday in the Gallup track, which includes three nights of polling. Read about it here.

The Rasmussen Reports tracking poll, which includes four nights of polling, has the race at Clinton 46%, Obama 44%.

In California, meanwhile, the Public Policy Institute of California finds that 61% of likely California voters have a favorable impression of Obama, 45% view Clinton favorably and 49% view Republican John McCain favorably. Obama would beat McCain 49%-40% in a general election while Clinton would edge McCain 46%-43%.

The Obama campaign today is circulating a U.S. News story that analyzes the state of play in California. The gist: Clinton may have won the Democratic primary, but the new PPIC poll numbers undercut her argument that she's the strongest candidate in states with large numbers of electoral votes.

A new Insider Advantage poll of North Carolina, which has a May 6 primary, puts the race there at Obama 49%, Clinton 34%.

Hillary Clinton is a LIAR

LIAR

Hillary Clinton wants to make Obama's former Pastor, Jeremiah Wright,  the number one campaign issue! Clinton: "Wright Would Not Have Been My Pastor"

(Never mind that Bill Clinton called upon Rev. Wright during his moral crisis.)

Am I the only person who finds something RACIST about the way the Clinton campaign is milking the Jeremiah Wright story to scare white voters away from Barack Obama?

UPDATE:  It Looks Like Hillary is getting help from the "Vast Right-Wing Conspirator" (Richard Mellon Scaife) in the right-wing effort to destroy Barak Obama by keeping Rev. Jeremiah Wright in the media spotlight.

Maybe Hillary should listen to HER former pastor: Don't Use Wright to Polarize!

Fox News Anchors Rail Against "Obama-Bashing"!!

Fox News' very own anchors are speaking out — and walking off — over what they perceive to be "Obama-bashing" on their network.

This morning on "Fox and Friends," Brian Kilmeade walked off the set after a dispute with his co-hosts Gretchen Carlson (she who celebrates deadly floods) and Steve Doocy over Obama's comment that his grandmother is a "typical white person." Kilmeade argued that the remark needed to be taken in context and eventually got so fed up with his co-hosts that he walked off set.

Later, "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace came on the show and railed against "Fox and Friends" for what he called "Obama-bashing."

Watch Both Clips

Maybe Hillary's Guerilla Women will rise above FOX NEWS!

Gov. Bill Richardson Endorses Obama

Former Democratic Presidential candidate, Gov. Bill Richardson Endorses Barack Obama!

Richardson:
"I believe he is the kind of once-in-a-lifetime leader that can bring our nation together and restore America's moral leadership in the world.."
(Obama) "will be a historic and great president, who can bring us the change we so desperately need by bringing us together as a nation here at home and with our allies abroad."

"There is no doubt in my mind that Barack Obama has the judgment and courage we need in a commander in chief when our nation's security is on the line. He showed this judgment by opposing the Iraq war from the start, and he has show it during this campaign by standing up for a new era in American leadership internationally," Richardson said.

"It is time for Democrats to come together and stop fighting among themselves.."

This is a BIG loss for Hillary Clinton, and a great boost for Barack Obama!

UPDATE:
(Talk about HYPOCRISY!  The Clinton campaign had been desperately seeking Richardson's endorsement!  Clinton's slimy "advisor" Mark Penn is one reason why many respectable Democrats do not want to endorse her!)

Response to Hillary's Guerilla Women

I have to respond to the constant barrage of Obama Hatred  over on TN Guerilla Women
I used to like that website because of it's progressive/feminist/lgbt insights, but it has turned into nothing more than a Hate Obama/Hillary Fan site.   First, the TGW have been playing right along with the FOX NEWS/GOP race-baiting tactics aimed at "bloodying" (Rush Limbaugh) the Democratic front-runner Barack Obama.  They defended Geraldine Ferraro's racist rants, but accuse Obama of engaging in racist politics.  They copy the FOX NEWS/GOP talking points about Obama being "unelectable" because of his racial background, his middle name, the picture of him in a turban and now because of his former pastor Jeremiah Wright (who committed the "sin" of calling the U.S. a racist country, controlled by rich white people,  that has committed acts of terrorism!).  I don't defend all Wright's comments, and like many preachers he often goes "over the top" to make his points, but his points were RIGHT!  So why is it that "feminist" women would ignore (and sometime condone) racist attacks against Obama, ignore the REAL racism at the root of the right-wing/FOX NEWS attacks on Obama!  Why are these anti-Obama feminists crying "sexism" over every attack on Hillary Clinton while condoning and reproducing right-wing racist attacks on Obama, and even using that racism as an argument that Obama would not be able to win the general election!  EGALIA, YOU ARE A RACIST HYPOCRITE!

(NOTE: TGW are now harping on polls showing that more Clinton supporters say they will not vote for Obama than Obama supporters who will not vote for Clinton if she gets the nomination.  Now, not too long ago Egalia at TGW was ATTACKING Obama supporters who would not vote for Clintons for their lack of "party unity" and for being sexists, etc...That is just one example of the  HYPOCRISY you will find on TGW!)

The Clinton campaign has ran a mean, dirty, RACIST, campaign against Obama.  Hillary has used right-wing scare tactics (fear of terrorism, etc.), racism, etc. against Obama.  While Obama has been focusing on attacking John McCain, Hillary Clinton has been PRAISING the Republican nominee and says he is more qualified to be President than the Democratic front-runner!  Why should Democrats support a candidate who says the Republican candidate is better than her Democratic opponent???

Egalia, don't hold your breath waiting for John Edwards to endorse Hillary.   IF he endorses, he will probably follow Bill Richardson who will be endorsing Obama in a few minutes.  Hillary Clinton has already LOST the nomination.  She can only "win" it by violating the DNC rules SHE agreed to, and VIOLATED in MI and FL, and try to scare enough superdelegates with her racist campaign into going against the will of the voters and pledged delegates and anoint her the nominee.  IF that happens, it will be civil war in the Democratic Party!

The Clinton Civil War

Hillary Clinton cannot win the Democratic nomination, or even catch up to Barack Obama, unless enough "super delegates" go against the will of the majority of voters and anoint her. She has already said Obama, the like Democratic nominee is not qualified to be President and basically endorsed John McCain over her Democratic challenger, which should be enough to disqualify her from being the Democratic nominee (that and her votes authorizing the illegal invasion of Iraq and supporting Bush/Lieberman on Iran).

Despite all evidence of Hillary Clinton's losing the Democratic nomination, a group of paranoid Clintonites have launched a "writers strike" against the DailyKos because of "bias" against their Princess Hillary. Well, KOS, puts them in their place with this reply:
The Clinton Civil War

Here's a highlight of this political spanking from KOS:

"Clinton fails the test of the guiding principles of this site, and of my first book, Crashing the Gate.

Clinton isn't just a member of the DLC, she's in their leadership. Obama, by the way, repudiated the organization three times (it's a great story, which I tell in my forthcoming book).

Clinton didn't just vote for the Iraq war and refuse to apologize for it, she voted to give Bush the same authority on Iran.

And if we want to talk about which party is the most grassroots-oriented, it's no contest. We've seen it in the caucuses, we've seen it in the netroots, and we saw it in the Iowa county convention this Saturday. The party's activists are busting their butts for Obama, while Clinton's campaign is counting on low-information Democratic voters selecting Clinton based on little more than name ID.

But I could deal with all of that, really, if Clinton was headed toward victory. I see this as a long-term movement, and I've always expected setbacks along the way. Clinton isn't the most horrible person in the world. She's actually quite nice, despite all her flaws, and would make a fine enough president.

If she was winning.

But she's not, and that's the rub.

First of all, the only path to victory for Clinton is via coup by super delegate.

She knows this. That's why there's all the talk about poaching pledged delegates and spinning uncertainty around Michigan and Florida, and laying the case for super delegates to discard the popular will and stage a coup.

Yet a coup by super delegate would sunder the party in civil war.

Clinton knows this, it's her only path to victory, and she doesn't care. She is willing -- nay, eager to split the party apart in her mad pursuit of power.

If the situations were reversed, and Obama was lagging in the delegates, popular vote, states won, money raised, and every other reasonable measure, then I'd feel the same way about Obama. (I pulled the plug early on Dean in 2004.) But that's not the case.

It is Clinton, with no reasonable chance of victory, who is fomenting civil war in order to overturn the will of the Democratic electorate. As such, as far as I'm concerned, she doesn't deserve "fairness" on this site. All sexist attacks will be dealt with -- those will never be acceptable. But otherwise, Clinton has set an inevitably divisive course and must be dealt with appropriately.

To reiterate, she cannot win without overturning the will of the national Democratic electorate and fomenting civil war, and she doesn't care.

That's why she has earned my enmity and that of so many others. That's why she is bleeding super delegates. That's why she's even bleeding her own caucus delegates (remember, she lost a delegate in Iowa on Saturday). That's why Keith Olbermann finally broke his neutrality. That's why Nancy Pelosi essentially cast her lot with Obama. That's why Democrats outside of the Beltway are hoping for the unifying Obama at the top of the ticket, and not a Clinton so divisive, she is actually working to split her own party.

Meanwhile, Clinton and her shrinking band of paranoid holdouts wail and scream about all those evil people who have "turned" on Clinton and are no longer "honest power brokers" or "respectable voices" or whatnot, wearing blinders to reality, talking about silly little "strikes" when in reality, Clinton is planning a far more drastic, destructive and dehabilitating civil war.

People like me have two choices -- look the other way while Clinton attempts to ignite her civil war, or fight back now, before we cross that dangerous line. Honestly, it wasn't a difficult choice. And it's clear, looking at where the super delegates, most bloggers, and people like Olbermann are lining up, that the mainstream of the progressive movement is making the same choice.

And the more super delegates see what is happening, and what Clinton has in store, the more imperative it is that they line up behind Obama and put an end to it before it's too late."

AMEN!

Hillary's Guerilla Women are doing everything they can to bring down Obama and the Democratic Party to save her in the name of a "feminism" that charges every opponent of the Clinton's as pieces in the sexist plot to destroy Hillary. Their only hope now is to demonize Obama and his supporters, like Fox News, and rejoice in Obama's falling poll numbers from the Clinton and Fox News attacks. They won't support Obama if he is nominated, its Hillary or nothing!

And more reason to fear a HRC nomination, there is growing talk that she might pick her fellow DLCer, Harold Ford Jr.! Yes, the same HFJ who tried to run to the RIGHT of his Republican opponent in TN and still lost!

Stop Hillary Clinton to save the Democratic Party! Or there will be Civil War!

Media Attacks Obama/Gives McCain Free Ride

The Anti-Obama "Fox News" Virus has been spreading all over the mainstream media, as this new video from Bravenews films shows.

(Sometimes its hard to tell the difference between Fox News and the Tennessee Guerilla Women)

See also FAIR: Media Hold McCain, Obama to Different Standards

While trying to link Obama to controversial statements by his former paster Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan, the media has given John McCain a free ride on his endorsements from anti-muslim, anti-Catholic, anti-gay preachers John Hagee (who calls catholicism the "Great Whore" and claims that hurricane Katrina was God's judgment against homosexuality), and Roy Parsley who wants to eliminate Islam from the face of the earth, calls upon "Patriot Pastors" to wage war against gays, abortion and liberal judges, and John McCain calls his "spiritual advisor".

(McCain is also courting the ultra-right Council for Natonal Policy founded by right-wing extremists like James Dobson, which was behind the Iran-Contra scandal during the Reagan Administration and is now pushing a war with Iran!

Barack Obama:On My Faith and My Church

As for Jeremiah Wright, the former pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ, at first, hearing the clips of his "inflammatory" sermons circulating on the internet, I thought he was a racist bigot and a religious fanatic. But he actually says a lot of things I agree with and is well-respected for his inclusive sermons, including acceptance of gays, and progressive politics, which probably influenced Barack Obama. I'm not sure Wright is a racist bigot. He is right about racism, rich white people do control this country, and yes the U.S. has been engaged in terrorism and killing innocent people for centuries. The United Church of Christ, the most progressive Christian denomination, is standing by Wright and the Trinity United Church of Christ. I think Rev. Wright stepped over the church/state line by attacking Hillary Clinton and endorsing Barack Obama. I don't think ANY preacher or pastor or minister should engage in partisan politics (e.g., attacking one candidate or endorsing another) whether it be a fundamentalist church endorsing Republicans or a liberal church endorsing a Democrat.

The $3 Trillion Dollar War

In their new book The Trillion Dollar War, Joseph Stiglitz, winner of the 2001 Nobel Prize in economics, and Linda Bilmes estimate the full cost of the Iraq "War" (invasion and occupation) to be $3 trillion (and the cost to the rest of the world to be another $3 trillion). (The Bush administration said the war would only cost $50 billion, the amount being spent every three months!)

For one-sixth of the cost of the war, the U.S. could put Social Security on a sound footing for more than half a century, without cutting benefits or raising taxes!

The U.S. national debt (which was $5.7 billion when bush became president) will be $2 trillion higher because of the war alone (in addition to the $800 billion increase under Bush before the war)!

The Bush administration LIED about everything to justify the illegal invasion of Iraq, including the cost!

Obama Wins Mississippi/More LGBT Endorsements

As expected, Obama Wins Mississippi
(Obama 60%, Hillary Clinton 38%)

Race was a major factor. Obama got 90% of the black vote, but only 25% of the White Vote.
According to the MSNBC Exit Poll, Republicans were 12% of the primary voters and 75% of them voted for Hillary Clinton.
Most of Obama voters would support a Obama/Clinton ticket, but most Clinton voters did not support a Clinton/Obama ticket.
Hmm... could it be RACISM?

Obama Rolls Out More LGBT Endorsements

Barack Obama's campaign rolled out a new swath of 40 national LGBT supporters, adding to the original list of about 60 queer supporters they announced last year.

Why Do (Some) Feminists Hate Barack Obama (Black Men)?

Ferraro: "They're Attacking Me Because I'm white"

There was more fallout today from Geraldine Ferraro's Racist Attack on Barack Obama

Ferraro told the Daily Breeze of Torrance, Calif.: "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

This from a woman who was chosen to be Walter Mondale's V.P. partner ONLY because she was a woman! And she was so dull she made Mondale look charismatic!

Hillary Clinton tried to distance herself from Ferraro's comment, sort of:

Clinton said, "I do not agree with that," and later added, "It's regrettable that any of our supporters _ on both sides, because we both have this experience _ say things that kind of veer off into the personal." (Ferraro is STILL part of the Clinton campaign.)

Obama called Ferraro's comments "patently absurd."

"I don't think Geraldine Ferraro's comments have any place in our politics or in the Democratic Party. They are divisive. I think anybody who understands the history of this country knows they are patently absurd," he told the Allentown Morning Call. "And I would expect that the same way those comments don't have a place in my campaign they shouldn't have a place in Senator Clinton's either."

Ferraro is pushing back: Ferraro is pushing back and standing by her statement:

"Any time anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says, 'Let's address reality and the problems we're facing in this world,' you're accused of being racist, so you have to shut up," she told the Daily Breeze of Torrance, California. "Racism works in two different directions. I really think they're attacking me because I'm white. How's that?"

Why do Ferraro and some Pro-Hillary Feminists HATE Barack Obama? They are so envious that a black man is beating their candidate that they make outrageous sexist and racist attacks on Obama and his supporters!

UPDATE: Politico's Ben Smith dug this past comment by Geraldine Ferraro on Jesse Jackson in 1988:

A Ferraro Flashback:

"If Jesse Jackson were not black, he wouldn't be in the race," she said.

Really. The cite is an April 15, 1988 Washington Post story (byline: Howard Kurtz), available only on Nexis.

Here's the full context:

Placid of demeanor but pointed in his rhetoric, Jackson struck out repeatedly today against those who suggest his race has been an asset in the campaign. President Reagan suggested Tuesday that people don't ask Jackson tough questions because of his race. And former representative Geraldine A. Ferraro (D-N.Y.) said Wednesday that because of his "radical" views, "if Jesse Jackson were not black, he wouldn't be in the race."

Asked about this at a campaign stop in Buffalo, Jackson at first seemed ready to pounce fiercely on his critics. But then he stopped, took a breath, and said quietly, "Millions of Americans have a point of view different from" Ferraro's.

Discussing the same point in Washington, Jackson said, "We campaigned across the South . . . without a single catcall or boo. It was not until we got North to New York that we began to hear this from Koch, President Reagan and then Mrs. Ferraro . . . . Some people are making hysteria while I'm making history."

Here's MORE of Ferraro's racist rants on FOX NEWS!

Why Does Geraldine Ferraro hate black men??

UPDATE: Ferraro Steps Down From Clinton Fundraising:

Full letter:

Dear Hillary –

I am stepping down from your finance committee so I can speak for myself and you can continue to speak for yourself about what is at stake in this campaign.

The Obama campaign is attacking me to hurt you. I won't let that happen.

Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do to make this a better world for my children and grandchildren.

You have my deep admiration and respect.

Gerry

I don't think we've heard the last from Gerry...

More Clinton Attacks on Obama: He's Liberal and He's Black!

Clinton Advisor Says Obama is the "most liberal Senator" !

Shocking!
Hillary Clinton’s campaign advisor, Mark Penn, borrows ANOTHER Republican Attack on Barack Obama—he’s “the most Liberal Senator”!!

From Mark Penn in the New Yorker:

“Independent and Republican support is diminishing as they find out he’s the most liberal Democratic senator… As they get more of a sense that he’s not ready to be Commander-in-Chief, a lot of Independents who were supporting him are disappearing.”

How can the Clinton campaign argue that Obama is not fit to be commander-in-chief (like John McCain!), but then offer to make him her V.P. candidate??

So much for the TN Guerilla Women’s arguments that Hillary is the “liberal” candidate..

As expected Hillary Clinton is going to run as fast as she can to the RIGHT IF she wins the nomination!

Then there was this bomb from Geraldine Ferrarro:
"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," she continued. "And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

Once again the feminist-clintonistas want to play the GENDER card vs. the RACE card. Sexism is worse than Racism, and so Hillary is more entitled to win the nomination since she is a woman. B.S.!!

I'm beginning to feel about Hillary Clinton what James Carville said about Ralph Nader. I wouldn't piss on her if she was on fire!

Another Republican Racist Attack on Barack Obama

Republicans continue their racist attacks on Barack Obama:

GOP Rep. Steve King Says Terrorists would Celebate Obama Win

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa Republican congressman said Friday that terrorists would be "dancing in the streets" if Democratic candidate Barack Obama were to win the presidency.

Rep. Steve King based his prediction on Obama's pledge to pull troops out of Iraq, his Kenyan heritage and his middle name, Hussein.

"The radical Islamists, the al-Qaida … would be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on Sept. 11 because they would declare victory in this war on terror," King said in an interview with the Daily Reporter in Spencer.

King said his comments were not meant to demean Obama but to warn how an Obama presidency would look to the world.

"His middle name does matter," King said. "It matters because they read a meaning into that."

King still stands by his comments and claims that it was not racist.

Oklahama Rep. Says Gays are a Bigger Threat than Terrorism!

Oklahoma Rep. Sally Kern when on a tirade against gays in a recent meeting she didn't know was being recorded.

Some tidbits:

"Studies show, no society that has totally embraced homosexuality has lasted for more than, you know, a few decades. . .

I honestly think it's the biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam.

They want to get them into the government schools so they can indoctrinate them.

...They are going after our young children, as young as two years of age, to try to teach them that the homosexual lifestyle is an acceptable lifestyle.

You know, gays are infiltrating city councils...did you know that the city council of Eureka Springs is now controlled by gays -- they are winning elections.

One of my colleagues said We don't have a gay problem in our community...well you know what, that is so dumb. If you have cancer in your little toe, do you just say that I'm going to forget about it since the rest of you is fine? It spreads! This stuff is deadly and it is spreading. It will destroy our young people and it will destroy this nation."

Will the Oklahoma Republican Party stand behind her?

Former Log Cabin Republican President Supports Obama, Changes Party

Here's another good example of why Barack Obama would be a better candidate than Hillary Clinton in the general election:
Log Cabin Leader Has Change of Heart

(Former) Houston Log Cabin Republican President Noel Freeman joined hundreds of LGBT volunteers in Texas to support Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama! Freeman says he will vote for Obama if he is the nominee, but will not vote for Hillary Clinton. He is an example of the class of crossover and independent voters that are attracted to Obama. A recent Pew poll found that Obama edges out John McCain among independents by 49 percent to 43 percent in a general election match-up. Because of his attraction to Barack Obama, Freeman has resigned from the Log Cabin Republicans and has switched parties.

Hillary Clinton Endorses John McCain!

Well "The Bitch" strikes again..
Hillary has attacked Obama and praised John McCain over and over again.
First she plays the GOP "fear" card on the horrible Red Phone Ad (right out of the Karl Rove Playbook), then she equates herself with John McCain on "experience" (and demeans Obama once again as only having a "speech in 2002"), now she gathers flags and retired generals around her to praise John McCain and demean Obama once again!
Is The Bitch running for the Democratic nomination or to be John McCains V.P.?
At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if she chooses Joe Lieberman as her V.P.!

Now she compares Obama to Ken Starr!! Talk about political stupidity! Why bring up the Clinton scandals again??

I have said I would support her if she is the nominee, but as many Obama supporters have told me today, "I will not vote for THAT BITCH!"

I am even more disgusted with HRC and hope she and her ego don't destroy the Democratic Party along with Obama!

There won't be a "dream ticket", because Obama has some decency and self-respect. He shouldn't take it if she offers it to him.

Hillary Clinton should be ATTACKING John McCain, not praising him and attacking Obama!

Once again the Clintonistas will destroy the Democratic Party for their own political gain.

Obama Defends Gays Again...

Obama on Scapegoating Gays and the Golden Rule

To applause on Friday, Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) spoke of his Christian faith and acceptance of LGBT people at a campaign stop in Beaumont, Texas.

"I believe that everybody in this country should be treated equally," says the Senator, "and that means people should be treated equally on the basis of race, they should be treated equally on the basis of gender, and they should be treated equally on the basis of sexual orientation."

"Now, I am a Christian," he goes on. "I praise Jesus every Sunday. But, I just want everybody here to know that sometimes, particularly in the African-American community and the church sometimes, I hear people saying things that I don't think are very Christian with respect to people who are gay and lesbian.

"I think everybody has the right to their own values, and their own religion, and their own practices, but I also know that the Sermon on the Mount says treat people as you'd want to be treated."

Bill to Ban Teaching Homosexuality in TN Schools Killed

The Bill to Ban Teaching Homosexuality in TN School was Killed Tuesday.

NASHVILLE - A House subcommittee voted Tuesday - for the second time and on a more formal basis - to kill state Rep. Stacey Campfield's bill to prohibit teaching about homosexuality in Tennessee schools. The roll call vote was 6-4 in favor of House Education Committee Chairman Les Winningham's motion to send the bill to the Department of Education, in effect killing it. All Republicans on the panel - including Reps. Harry Brooks of Knoxville and Richard Montgomery of Seymour - sided with Campfield. All Democrats on the panel opposed him.

Is this the Beginning of the End of the Democratic Party?

With the help of Rush Limbaugh and many conservative voters and very negative campaign ads, Hillary Clinton won Ohio by 10% and Texas by about 3% Tuesday, and can legitimately claim to have a chance, though slim, of catching up to Obama's delegate count. The math does not seem to be there for her to win the nomination, but if everything goes her way from now to the end, and the "superdelegates" side with her, she could possibly be the Democratic nominee, which isn't good for a number of reasons.

Many voters, including myself, are beginning to have "buyer's remorse" for Barack Obama. While Clinton has ran an effective NEGATIVE and DIRTY campaign against Obama, he has not fought back as aggressively as he should have, which makes one wonder if he would really be a strong candidate against John McCain. But Hillary's negative, and unfair, attacks on Obama were effective. Although the negative ads were unfair and inaccurate, they showed that negative campaigns are more effective than "nice" campaigns (ask John Kerry, Mike Dukakis and Walter Mondale).

As much as I despise Hillary Clinton, I am also disappointed in Barack Obama. There is not much difference between the two Democratic candidates on issues like NAFTA, "free trade," military spending, or even health care. Both are peddling inadequate band-aid approaches to health insurance rather than taking on the insurance companies and proposing the only real "universal" health insurance program--a public single payer system. Neither will take on military waste and cut military spending. Neither will defend FULL equal rights for gays and lesbians (i.e., marriage equality), etc...

All this underscores a fundamental problem with the Democratic Party. What does the Democratic Party stand for? Why are Democrats running from its liberal traditions and embracing Republicanism and "smaller government"? Why are Democrats caving in to the most unpopular President in modern history to continue to fund the illegal occupation of Iraq and trying to find a way to give immunity to the telecom companies that participated in illegal acts against American citizens? Why haven't Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid stood up to the Republican MINORITY in the House and Senate? (Pelosi and Reid are two of the most pathetic weak excuses for political "leaders" I have ever seen!)

To say the least I am growing more and more disenchanted with the Democratic Party that not even an Obama nomination will do much to change, but a Hillary Clinton nomination will definitely fuel even more. It is looking like neither Obama or Clinton will defeat John McCain in the general election. If the Democratic Party loses THIS election, given the failures and unpopularity of Bush and the GOP, what purpose does the Democratic Party serve in the U.S. political system? Are liberals and progressives being duped once again into supporting the Democratic Party in hopes the party will "change"??

I will be honest, I am having a political crisis at this moment. I have been trying to work "within" the Democratic Party for 20 years, with little to show for it. Why should people like myself (progressives, democratic socialists, etc.) keep sacrificing our political values and principles by supporting the Democratic Party? And what are our options? The Green Party? The Socialist Party? The Communist Party (yes it still exists and has also been supporting Democrats!) Anarchism? What are our choices?

Like many other left/progressives, I am asking these questions this election year and may not be able to put my faith in the Democratic party nominee again.

Why Rush Limbaugh Says "Vote for Hillary!"

It's hard to tell the past few weeks if Hillary Clinton is running for the Democratic Presidential nomination or to be John McCain's Vice-President!
First, she puts out the "3 A.M Phone Call" ad which tries to scare voters into voting for her instead of Barack Obama, but will probably help John McCain, who is already copying the ad. It's a classic right-wing scare tactic! This ad along with mocking Obama's message of "hope" as nothing but empty rhetoric is at odds with Bill Clinton's campaign where he challenged voters to support candidates who have a message of "hope", not fear!

Then Hillary attacks Obama as not having enough experience to be President, and suggesting that John McCain would be a better candidate then Obama!
Hillary Says John McCain has More Experience to be President than Obama

"I think that I have a lifetime of experience that I will bring to the White House. I know Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience to the White House. And Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002," Clinton says.

As Rachel Maddow said on Keith Olberman:
"This is what you say if you want to be McCain's choice for Vice President. It is not what you say if you are running for the Democratic nomination."

From the subliminal racist attacks on Obama from the Clinton campaign to repeating every right-wing talking point on Obama, Hillary Clinton seems to be doing the GOP's dirty work, which is why Rush Limbaugh Urges His Listeners to Vote for Hillary Clinton

From CNN:
Limbaugh has been actively urging his Texas listeners to cross over and vote for Clinton in that state's open primary Tuesday, arguing it helps the Republicans if the Democratic race remains unsettled for weeks to come.

"I want Hillary to stay in this…this is too good a soap opera," Limbaugh told fellow conservative talk-show host Laura Ingraham on Fox News Friday. He reiterated the comments on his Monday show and replayed the exchange with Ingram.

He also said Clinton is more willing than the Republican National Committee and John McCain's campaign to criticize Barack Obama.

"We need Barack Obama bloodied up politically. It's obvious that the Republicans are not going to do it, they don't have the stomach for it," Limbaugh continued. "As you probably know we're getting all kinds of memos from the RNC saying we're not going to be critical. Mark McKinnon of McCain's campaign said he'll quit if they get critical over Obama. This is the presidency of the United States we're talking about. I want our party to win I want the Democrats to lose.”

Will Hillary Clinton continue to do the Republican dirty work to bloody Obama?

Even if Hillary wins Ohio or Texas today, she cannot win enough delegates to get the nomination.
See Hillary's Math Problem (Newsweek)

And, according to Tom Brokaw, 50 More Superdelegates are waiting to Endorse Obama

Bill Richardson Condemns Hillary Clinton "3 A.M. Red Phone Ad, Praises Obama's Judgment and Experience" And Richardson says after today, the Democratic party should unite behind the candidate with the most delgate count (Barack Obama).

It's time for her to drop out and for the Democrats to unite behind Barack Obama! The Longer Hillary stays in the race, the more she helps John McCain.

Gay Backers Defect to Obama, Eroding Another Clinton Base

Bloomberg News carried this story Friday, Gay Clinton Backers Defect to Obama Eroding Her Base
Hillary Clinton has been getting about 60% of the gay/lesbian vote, but many prominent gays and lesbians are supporting Obama including former Clinton advisor David Mixner, Melissa Etheridge, and David Geffen.

And conservative gay columnist Andrew Sullivan wrote his wonderful column: The Urgent, Clear Choice for Gay Voters: Obama
I don't agree with Andrew on much, but he is finally making political sense!

McCain Accepts Endorsement of Christian Zionist John Hagee

John McCain has refused to reject the endorsement of Christian Zionist John Hagee, a radical right-wing preacher who has a history of anti-Catholitc, anti-Jewish and ant-gay bigotry. While the media and political opponents have forced Obama to denounce and reject the support of Louis Farrakhan, will they also force McCain to denounce and reject the endorsement of John Hagee??
